The modern style of business working.

Our way of networking is relatively new. We still make referrals face to face but our collective strength in terms of getting Google to notice our individual businesses has been transformative for many.

Membership of our group is sought after. No other business networking group in Shropshire is tapping into the power of this collective support.

Becoming a member and linking my business and blogs to the SBN website and social reach has hugely improved my online presence. The SBN influence has been incredible.”

Meet the members

The Fees

To cover the costs of breakfasts and the room hire, members pay £60 per month by direct debit.

Surplus funds are given to our chosen charities and occasionally we may have to pay for a members expertise or an expense associated with an event.

At just £60 it’s the cheapest, most sustained SEO and local marketing boost you’re likely to ever get.

We look forward to seeing you on Thursday!

The Format

SBN meets every Thursday morning at the Shropshire Wildlife Trust Centre - 193 Abbey Foregate, Shrewsbury.

The meetings start at 07:00. Most members arrive at 6.45 to catch up, get a coffee and network before the meeting starts. The meeting normally ends at around 08:30-09:00.

By starting early it means everyone can get to work on time and get on with their day.

Attendance is important because coming to the meetings regularly shows that you’re reliable and keeping up to date with the group and what’s happening is important. You only get the benefits SBN offers if you attend.

Each week we ask that you tell us on our WhatsApp group that you’re coming so we can make sure you get the breakfast you want.

During the week you’ll be asked to help with promoting the Spotlight member for the month. It’s a quick and easy commitment. We’ll help you and show you what you need to do.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • A Blog (in short a ‘weblog’) is a section of your website that is frequently updated with new news, opinions, other relevant content that wouldn’t necessarily fit on the static pages of a website.

It’s the perfect place for us all to put our news of other members in SBN.

David and Lucy will show you what blogs to write when they do the first ‘Spotlight’ a member meetting

  • You’ll need to be able to write Blogs once or twice a month. David and Lucy will show you what you’ll need to do.

To start with you’ll need to add a link to the SBN website in the footer of your own website. This will be your part of the reciprocal link.

  • There are a number of SBN members who have had their websites designed for them. These websites have very limited capability and most members can’t even write blogs on them.

To write blogs and take part in helping SBN Spotlighted members you’ll need a proper website that you own and can add content to yourself.

Ask David or Lucy if you need help.

  • We don’t want this to be problem for anyone.

We’ll help you get on board, just ask David or Lucy and they’ll point you in the right direction.

  • No it’s free!

If you’ve got website that allows you to add content and make changes yourself it won’t cost you anything.

  • Google is huge and very slow moving so we’re looking at months rather than weeks.

The most important thing is we’re consistent and we all add our blogs regularly - perhaps one or two a month. You’ll be shown what to do at the meeting when a member is in the ‘Spotlight’

Run by the members.

The group is run by a small group of members. It runs a little bit like a business does and everybody has their say. Like any business there are a set of rules and the way we work is transparent and it’s a refreshing change from the old style SBN.

While the format of the morning meetings remains broadly structured, we're free to keep it fresh and create new ways to promote our businesses amongst each other and our extended individual network of contacts. We also plan activities to raise money for our current nominated charity and organise social events as a group too.

In short, we're a group of professionals who also like to have a bit of fun in business!

Social events, Fundraising and Fun

As well as our weekly breakfast meetings, SBN has a packed programme of informational, networking, fundraising, and social events to help our members to make connections, learn new skills, and have fun!
